Garmin nuvi 1390T Review
Have you ever been in a situation where you were in a new
city or state driving around only to be stopped by a cop who
said that you exceeded the speed limit? Situations like these
can happen anywhere. What is permissible in one state may not
be others. There are different speed limits set by different
states and all you need to do is keep a Garmin
1390T as your travelling partner as it comes with a
speed limit indicator that displays speed
limits for most major roads.

Garmin
nuvi 1390T GPS Navigator
Overview
The 4.3" widescreen Garmin nuvi 1390T comes with Bluetooth
and the included Traffic Receiver provides North America
traffic information. The new ultra-slim design is 25% slimmer
than previous Garmin models. It also has an enhanced user
interface, ecoRoute, public transit mode, and text-to-speech
functions.
The nuvi 1390T is one of the first GPS devices to offer
pedestrian navigation capability enabled through an optional
CityXplorer map, which is available for select
tourist destinations in North America and Europe. It will be
available for download from Garmin's site.
Features
The 1390T's enhanced user interface features
improved graphics and a new slide control for menu
operation, while ecoRoute™ suggests the
most fuel-efficient routes to save you money and fuel.
Users will have a “less fuel” option as a
routing preference.
Garmin's new public transit mode allows you
to navigate using buses, tramway, metro, and suburban rail
systems.
The nuvi 1390T has the capability of automatically adjusting
to the time zone of your current location. In addition to the
speed limit indicator, you can also record mileage, speed
travelled and time spent as well. The picture viewer helps you
to download pictures directly to your Garmin 1390T. It also has
a currency converter, calculator, world clock and many other
useful features.
It has a function called “Where Am I” which
can help you to find out the exact coordinates and the
location. This feature also helps you find help and locate
services like nearest hospital, fuel station and addresses
close by. The great part about the nuvi 1390T is that the
moment you remove the unit from its mount on the windshield
then it marks your position by default and in case you lose
your way, it will help you find your way back to your car.
This GPS model is also compatible with the MSN
Direct/GDB55 feature. This innovative feature turns
your compatible Garmin into a dynamic on-the-go information
source. The GDB 55 receiver sends information to the Garmin
1390T so you can avoid traffic and lets you plan your trip on
your PC. With the purchase of this receiver, you'll get 12
months of MSN Direct services including traffic updates, gas
prices, weather forecasts, stock info and even movie
listings!
Another innovative and useful feature is photo navigation.
Using Garmin's Connect™ Photos site, you can choose from
millions of geo-located photos provided by Google's
Panoramio photo-sharing community and download
them to the 1390T for a richer navigation experience using the
pictures as a guide.
The Garmin nuvi 1390T is your friend which
can help you travel to distant places and find your way back
home. With all the new and innovative features it is truly
technology par excellence!
Actual user review:
• "Used the Nuvi in England for 2 1/2 weeks and it
worked great. The nice feature was that it could fit in my
pocket for walking around (it has an automobile and a
pedestrian feature) which was very nice. The maps worked great
for us as we travelled from London to Bath to Scotland and all
abouts. The suction cup works great and very easy to take your
Nuvi in and out of the car. I like the feature where it shows
your speed & indicates when you are exceeding the speed as
well. Definitely well worth the money." - T.Stimpfel

• "I have used the 1390 GPS on a trip down the West
Coast this week. I have found this to be a very well designed
unit. I purchased the gel dashboard mount and really like it.
The dashboard mount has been great. Junction view is
extraordinary and very helpful. The traffic interface is
interesting but not too useful so far. Maybe if I study it more
it would be more useful. The speaker phone is not very good
with very tinny sound. However, it is better than nothing. The
GPS functions have been very good and it is easy to use. I
would buy the unit again. It is small, good performance and
does what I need it to do." - S.Sullivan (WA,USA)
• "Just bought this GPS from Amazon and I'm having no
problems with it at all. No sure why others have a problem with
the speaker but it sounds fine to me. I bought this to replace
my Nuvi 350 and it's a major upgrade. The menus are much nicer
and I like the Speed Limit display. I did have a little trouble
with the bluetooth. After pairing my iPhone the "Phone" icon
disappeared from my GPS. It didn't seem to recognize my iPhone
anymore. I went to the Garmin website, downloaded the 2.70
upgraded software for this unit (which has fixes for the
speaker and bluetooth), did the pairing again, and now it works
fine. I would definitely recommend this unit. Anyone who's
having problems should download the latest software for this
GPS from the Garmin website." - D.Drumdue (NC,USA)
