Garmin nuvi 2250LT Review
Garmin, being one of the biggest GPS players, continue to serve consumers with nifty devices for their cars
so they can reach their destinations faster and safer. It was the Garmin nuvi lineup of GPS devices that
contributed to their success and that led them to release even more models to give consumers all kinds of
choices to suit their budgets. Every new release offers more features or larger or higher quality screen sizes
giving reasons for others to upgrade their older Garmin devices. However, the Garmin nuvi 2250LT
offers a modern package inside a small display.

Design
Most GPS devices these days sport 4.3-inch displays while the older 3.5-inch models lack in updates. The nuvi
2250LT is one device that manages to place that 3.5-inch display in a much smaller design
making this far more portable than any of the widescreen models..
Interface
With little space to work with, the interface had to be adjusted. The 320 x 420 resolution display is enough for
4 large icons to fill the screen when navigating through the interface. However, the look and feel remains similar
to the other new Garmin nuvi devices where the left sidebar presents the touchscreen controls. The home screen
remains accessible where there are only two icons that allow users to quickly plan a route or view the map. For a
compact device, the 3-D map graphics are great and the vehicle icons are even animated to make the trip more fun.
Various icons can be selected depending on the preference or means of travel. The only downside is that the
interface lacks a QWERTY keyboard since it cannot fit on the restricted display.
Navigation Features
The good news is that many of the major navigation features that make the average Garmin nuvi device good are
present in the Garmin nuvi 2250LT. The City Navigator NT street maps are preloaded right into the
device and have a wide coverage that will benefit people living in the U.S. and Canada areas. Unlike the similar
Garmin nuvi 2200, the 2250LT also has Mexico maps. There are millions of points of interests as well and it offers
the ability for users to create custom POIs. The HotFix satellite production is also present making the device more
accurate in keeping up with updates.
The Garmin nuvi 2250LT is designed to save you money by creating fuel-efficient routes through the
ecoRoute feature. Following these routes ensure that the vehicle uses as little gas as possible.
It analyzes the road speed as well as the vehicle acceleration data in order to come up with a better
conclusion.
When navigation is underway, the device provides accurate turn-by-turn directions and displays important speed
limits for key roads to emphasize safety. Every turn or change in route is voice-prompted so drivers that cannot
pay full attention to the screen can listen to the device speak clearly. Users can still glance at the map and
optionally zoom in to see shaded contours that highlight the digital elevations of the surrounding areas.
Navigation is only considered perfect if the driver does not miss a turn but it is quite possible for that turn
to be missed if the driver is on the wrong lane. The Lane Assist feature hopes to prevent that
issue by telling the driver in advance which lane he or she needs to be in. It also guides drivers to the right
exit so they know exactly when a turn needs to be made.
As the device gets used over time, the nuRoute technology will kick in and will start to make
the most out of the user's favorite directions. It uses this data to predict the next destination as well as show
how long it will take to reach that destination. The best thing about this technology is that it is ready out of
the box with no charge or hidden fees. The LT suffix next to the model number means that Lifetime
Traffic Update is included which eliminates the need for a subscription fee.
Extra Features
This portable GPS device is surprisingly packed with some extras like a JPEG viewer, measurement converter,
calculator, currency converter and world travel clock. There are several downloadable vehicles, voices, and
characters so users have even more customization options.
The small screen is the main concern here but most people that are looking for a highly portable GPS device will
enjoy the 2250LT.
