Garmin nuvi
265T Review
The Garmin nuvi series of GPS products have always been
recognized as the leader when it comes to quality and usability
because of great range of features that are all easy to use for
ordinary drivers. However, some of these ordinary drivers that
don’t have the money for a reliable GPS solution don’t think
about Garmin nuvi products because they are generally more
expensive than other competing products. The Garmin
nuvi 265T and other models in the 205 series are
changing that because these GPS devices are more affordable and
do not feel stripped down at all.

Design
The Garmin nuvi 265T’s small design may lead people to
believe that it has limited capabilities, but when you turn it
on, you will realize that the design is just right and the
3.5 screen size is just enough to display
valuable information while driving or travelling. It is an
antiglare display as well for clear
visibility.
Interface
The interface was one of the high selling points in the
higher-end models and that intuitive interface is embraced by
the 265T. The Garmin nuvi 265T works completely out of the box
and the home menu is strikingly similar to mobile phones so you
should be able to navigate just fine even without reading the
manual. There are only 2 large icons to choose from allowing
you to get immediately to the navigational functions quickly
just by using the touch screen. The map views are also very
easy to use and can be operated with one hand.
Actual user review :
• "We purchased this Garmin for a recent road trip
where we had to go past or through Washington DC. In the past,
DC has always been a nightmare of delays, congestion and lost
time. This model automatically re-routed us around a 1 hour
delay the first time we passed through. The second time it
suggested a route that we had never taken before (because it
was through the city instead of encircling it on the beltway)
and we drove through DC with less problems, stress and time
compared to past trips. We have no complaints. Wonderful
GPS!" - RDH (CT,USA)
Navigation
Navigation is as easy as selecting the “Where to” question
and enter your destination or “View Map” which brings up a
colorful map in 2-D or 3-D. All the street maps should be
present along with 6 million points of
interest scattered across the US.
One of the most impressive navigation features for a budget
device is the enhanced turn-by-turn
directions. The nuvi 265T can easily guide you to your
destination by using Text-to-Speech technology
so the street names are called out so you won’t miss a turn
without losing focus on the road. The map smoothly keeps your
position updated as you travel.
You won’t find any real advanced routing capabilities in
this budget model, but you will get lifetime alerts regarding
any traffic activity and road construction that is present in
your route. When detected, you can conveniently use the touch
screen to see more information and generate a detour route.
Other Features
The Garmin nuvi 265T has Bluetooth
capability so you can use it to connect to your
Bluetooth-enabled phone so that you can make phone calls
hands-free with its built-in microphone and speaker. All you
need to do is dial the number using the touch screen and then
freely talk while focusing on the road.
There are also plenty of tools that are geared for travelers
including a world clock, currency converter, unit converter,
and calculator, and photo viewer. These little extras make the
Garmin nuvi 265T more like a handy GPS device that you can
carry around.
The nuvi 265T is an impressive budget class device that
offers great value for its price. Any frequent user would
greatly benefit from this device.

Actual user comment :
• "The Garmin 265T has great "text-to-speech"
capability. Sure, it occasionally pronounces street names
somewhat incorrectly, adding an accent here or there where it
shouldn't be; but not so much that you don't know what street
you are being directed to - it is always clear. This unit gets
the job done. I live in the city, so it occasionally takes a
minute or so to get a signal (due to skyscrapers which block
it). But this is not much of an issue and is to be expected
with any GPS device. I have never become lost with this device,
and I would highly recommend it for its text-to-speech
capability. This makes driving the priority, not looking every
few minutes on the GPS map for the next turn. " -
