Garmin Nuvi
760 Review
Loaded with advanced navigation options all housed within a
widescreen, easy to use device, the Garmin nuvi
760, much like the rest of 700 series by Garmin,
serves as far more than just simply a portable navigator thanks
to its myriad of useful and innovative features. Experts
recommend the Garmin nüvi 760 more than any other high-end GPS.
It lands at the top of performance tests, including routing
tests against Magellan and TomTom units. The nuvi 760 includes
almost every extra feature Garmin
has to offer, but is still easy enough for a novice to use.

Product Overview
The first notable thing about the Garmin 760 is its
easy to read, bright display that always
allows you to see the "big picture" wherever you're traveling
regardless of the time of day or night as the device will
automatically adjust its brightness so that it's always
readable even in direct sunlight.
With intricate map details, turn by turn driving directions,
and preprogrammed with nearly six million points of
interest (POI), which include everything from ATM
machines, hotels, fueling stations, restaurants, emergency
personnel, and of course, local landmarks in the area. Users
can also add their own points of interest to the list to make
return trips simple and efficient.
With the purchase of the Garmin Nuvi 760 comes a vehicle
suction cup mount to keep the device firmly in place, a vehicle
power cord for recharging the unit, a dashboard disc, USB cable
for connectivity purposes, the Quick Start manual, built-in FM
traffic receiver, a three month subscription to TMC
real-time traffic service and MSN
Direct services, as well as the option to receive
detailed travel guides and savings programs.

• "This is not a technical review. We purchased this
for our son who is graduated from college and will start June
1st on his masters program. Drove from ABQ to Atlanta, and
there were absolutely no wrong turns. It helped us find gas
stations and places to eat w/ great ease. This was our first
experience with a car navigation system, but it couldn't have
been easier to operate and so clear to follow. There were
several very tight turns and quick lane changes in the Atlanta
area, and we were impressed with how well we were prepared. So
far, very, very pleased! " - Mrs.S (NM, USA)
Notable Benefits and Features
Paired with a compatible Bluetooth enabled
phone, the nuvi 760 will allow you to make hands-free phone
calls while driving, which is actually the law now in many
areas. It also allows you to answer incoming calls with a
single touch of the screen so that you keep your
eyes focused on the road.
Because of the nuvi 760's highly sensitive internal
antennae, it's possible to remove the device from its car mount
and it will remember the vehicle's position for up to three
days, allowing you to take it with you and find your car again
while on foot in an unfamiliar or overly crowded parking lot.
Also is the "Where Am I?" feature that enables users to click
the icon and instantly see their proximity to the closest
addresses and intersections, even displaying your exact
latitude and longitude, making getting lost a thing of the
past.
Planning ahead for all of your trips in great detail is
possible with the Garmin Nuvi 760 as it allows for storing up
to ten different routes, taking all of the worry out of travel.
And, with multiple destinations stored, the
unit will automatically sort your trips in order of the most
efficient routes, allowing you to make the most of your time as
well as your car's gas mileage.
The nuvi 760 serves as far more than a navigational device
as there are a multitude of other useful tools for travelers to
take advantage of, such as the currency converter or the time
zone converter. View JPEG images on the 760 or use it as an MP3
player to listen to your songs through your car's stereo. With
a paid subscription to Audible.com,
the device is even able to play audio books, allowing you to
listen to your favorite books while driving in the car.
With the Garmin Garage feature, users can
choose from a host of car-shaped icons to represent themselves
for map navigational purposes. Configure your own icon with
everything from sport's cars to Army tanks to motorcycles to
RVs to add a completely personalized touch to your portable
navigation experiences. And with Garmin Lock, a built-in
anti-theft prevention system, you'll never have to worry about
the Nuvi 760 being stolen as it will be useless to the thief
without the four digit PIN number required to enable the
device.

• "I own both the Nuvi 660 and the 760, I'm writing
this review for people having trouble deciding between the two.
I'm not going to focus on the feature differences, as that
information can be easily obtained from specifications and
online reviews. The 660 was a fine product back in 2006, but
the nuvi 760 outdoes the 660 in practically everything, but
there are some key usability fixes that make the 760 a better
buy for the frequent user. In the past couple weeks, we have
taken 2 trips with it and it performed well for both of them.
We are really enjoying it, and the Bluetooth is an added
feature we use more than we thought we would. Acquisition of
satellites is rapid. Love it! " - J.Yin (CA,USA)
• "The price is fantastic is has everything besides
visual for lanes, FM traffic plug duals as power and comes
through fm station awesome with playing mp3's and all. just
great. friction mount bought too and that's all you need! Plus
can just pay 60 bucks to get the traffic for life! Blue tooth
for calls is great, just buy a microphone and hang it on your
visor and it is totally complete." - F.Gerhard (NH,USA)
• "After some research, I decided to purchase the
Garmin Nuvi 760 from the great online store Amazon. I decided
to go with free shipping and still received it about two days
it was supposed to arrive. As soon as I hit the power bar and
booted the Nuvi 760 up it was ready to go with a fair amount of
battery juice available. After the initial "finding satellites"
for the first time (took about ten minutes, but only have to do
this once.) it acquired satellite very fast. I read that some
have issues acquiring satellites or satellite strength was
poor, but thank God I didn't experience those issues. As soon
as I boot up the 760 (about 10 seconds) it have full satellite
strength. Pretty impressive. I also like the fact when I'm
ready to travel, the 760 really calculates the directions for
the trip very fast as well." - A.Perry (USA)
