Magellan Maestro 4250 GPS Review

The Magellan Maestro 4250 is an excellent choice for a GPS system. Part of the reason it is so popular is because of its simplicity. It has a large screen with an interface that really does make sense. These are also highly portable as they are the thinnest of the portable GPS navigators.

Many people wonder what the difference between the 4200's and the 3200's are other than price. The main difference is the screen display. If you want to make sure you will always have enough screen room to see where you need to go then the 4250 is the model for you.

This is definitely their top of the line model as it also includes speech to text directions and available Bluetooth. This allows for hands-free phone calls and voice command. Since you're spending so much time driving it's important to be safe. Having blue tooth and hands free capability is definitely a plus.

Many people are also pleased to discover that the Magellan Maestro 4250 also has a touch screen. There is no need to deal with clunky buttons that can really mess you up when you're trying to get where you need to go.

GPS Reception

This model has the top of the line Sirfstar III chipset. This gives an incredibly fast satellite lock. Actually, this chipset also has a design that allows these Maestros to be the thinnest on the market. That doesn't, however, detract anything at all from their ability to work well. These GPS models have superb reception.

This chipset can help you maintain stable reception pretty much wherever you are. This is great for those who are traveling across country and don't know where they might end up.

Travel and Entertainment

One of the most innovative features of this GPS navigator is that it includes an automated traffic receiver. That means you can get RDS-TMC traffic reports as they happen. If you've ever unexpectedly run into any traffic on your way home then you know what a huge relief this will be for you. Keep in mind that this is a subscription service, but you do get a 3 month subscription included with purchase of a Maestro 4250.

You'll also pretty much find anything you need to with the included Navteq maps. There are 6 million points of interest included. You can find addresses and telephone numbers on demand.

There is a caveat to this wonderful collection of maps, however. Some users have reported that their model didn't include some of the buildings and roads that had been recently added. Those trying to find something that was built a short while ago might run into some difficulty unless you consistently upgrade your maps. For general usage, this is not a problem.

The Magellan Maestro 4250 also comes complete with accessories that make your traveling life easier. You can choose to mount the GPS in its cradle, on the dash, and even on the windshield. Having these different options can make all the difference for life on the go.

The system is also AAA enabled. That means you have access to TourBook listings, member discounts (as a member), auto repair locations, nearby attractions, and other valuable pieces of information. A definitely plus is that those belonging to AAA get special perks, like additional warranty and roadside assistance. Obviously this partnership can be beneficial for you.

Routing Engine

This Magellan 4250 also allows you to come up with 20 different destinations. You can make sure that you always have the fastest route, which can save you a lot of time. There are also different parameters you can set. Some of these include fastest time, shortest distance, freeway usage, and toll roads. You can also set it up so that it never gives you a route along a certain street.

All in all, this product receives excellent reviews. It is truly top of the line, and nearly guaranteed to get you to where you are going. The only downside is that it might not have the latest of the latest buildings and streets. With over 6 million points of interest, however, this should not be a problem for you.
