Navigon 2100 Max GPS
Review
The Navigon 2100 Max portable GPS just
may be the ideal navigator for the person who wants performance
and reliability along with the most advanced and necessary of
features, but without some of the additional bells and
whistles, most of which usually inflate the price. Stylish,
sleek and compact, yet affordable are the main theme with this
notable addition to Navigon's precision engineered global
positioning systems.

Product Overview
Preloaded with well over a million different
POI (points of interest), the Navigon 2100 Max
will give you the information and directions to points of
interest that you choose to be the most relevant, with
everything from hotels, motels, airports, car rental and travel
agencies to restaurants and eateries, gas stations, sporting
venues, and hospital and emergency personnel.
The main pros of the Navigon 2100 Max Portable GPS noted
throughout several other customer reviews were its low
price tag, the bright and easy to see screen, and the
accurate directions as well as the many customizable options.
The two cons mentioned regarding this particular GPS were that
people with larger fingers had a harder time with some of the
selection "buttons," onscreen, and that at higher volumes, the
unit's built-in speaker tends to produce distorted sound.
The text-to-speech feature enables the
user to actually hear the street names as well as see their
spelling, allowing one to keep their eyes on the road when
necessary. And, multilingual users will greatly appreciate the
2100's ability to display menus in many languages besides
Spanish or English, including Czech, Danish, Italian, Finnish,
French, Norwegian, Portuguese, Polish, and Turkish.
The Navigon 2100 is powered by a rechargeable lithium ion
battery that is rated to function for up to three hours without
access to a power source. Also included with the purchase of
the unit is a two gigabyte SD memory card, a car power adapter,
car holder, and USB cable along with operating instructions and
the warranty information.
Notable Benefits and Features
With a fully integrated SiRFstar III™
chipset, traffic receiver, antenna, and 64 megabytes
of built-in memory, the Navigon 2100 Max is ready for the road
right out of the box. A 4.3 inch wide touchscreen in full,
realistic color offers an exceptional view of what's up ahead,
and the Navigon 2100 Max also givers users the option of
switching between two or three dimensional maps of the U.S.
A rather beneficial feature of the Navigon 2100 Max portable
GPS device is that it comes equipped with
DirectHelp™, which is included as an extra
form of protection in the event of an accident or emergency and
assistance is needed. Also, in terms of safety, is the highly
beneficial Speed Assistant, which alerts the driver when they
are going over the speed limit to reduce the chances of an
accident or a speeding ticket.
With the unit's Lane Assistant you'll
never wonder again which lane would be better to travel in on
the road up ahead as you'll be alerted in advance which to
choose, a feature that definitely comes in handy in high
traffic or construction areas, or while traveling in unfamiliar
territory. Because of the highly realistic view that includes
the actual text on road signs, you'll be able to navigate the
most complicated of intersections with ease.
As of just recently, a new FreshMaps™
update has become available for owners of this GPS unit which
may be accessed through the Navigon website and then by logging
into your account. You also have the opportunity to back-up all
of your older maps just in case you ever need to refer to them
again before installing the new ones.
Optional features of the Navigon 2100 Max portable GPS
include Navigon's Lifetime Traffic service, as
well as Zagat Survey service that will let you know which
establishments have the highest customer ratings and reviews so
you can plan all of your trips accordingly.
